Chris Harper

President/Co-Founder

Chris ventured into the wind industry in 2006, bringing a strong background in heavy construction, including large-scale building and bridge projects. This experience proved invaluable in his role as a general contracting lead for Vestas on the West Cape Wind Farm, his first wind project.

From 2008 to 2018, Chris worked at Vestas in various roles, from field technician to lead and management positions. He led multiple projects, including major component exchanges, large correctives, commissioning, and troubleshooting, adapting to diverse circumstances and turbine variations from the V47 to V112 platforms.

Between 2018 and 2022, Chris held lead management roles at Nordex, focusing on the AW3000 platform. His expertise in troubleshooting and major component exchanges made him an effective leader at two AW sites in Eastern Canada.

As Site Superintendent at Pennecon (2022-2024), Chris played a key role in the company’s expansion into the wind industry. He led a new team to complete V150 and E138 projects and assisted Nordex with major component exchanges on the AW platform in 2023.

In 2024, Chris co-founded HAF Renewables, where he serves as President. He leads a skilled team specializing in decommissioning, major component exchanges, troubleshooting, and new construction across multiple turbine manufacturers.

With over 18 years of direct experience in the wind industry and a prior background in construction, Chris maintains a strong safety-first culture and takes pride in his work. His leadership fosters trust among his team and clients, contributing to positive and successful project outcomes.

Ryan Maclean

Co-Founder

Ryan’s journey in the wind industry began with his exceptional performance in the Holland College Wind Program, where he earned a diploma in 2021. His advanced skills and knowledge garnered him recognition from instructors and enabled him to tackle complex technician tasks immediately after graduating.

From 2021 to 2022, Ryan worked at One Wind, rapidly advancing and mastering multiple turbine platforms. His expertise encompassed major component exchanges and advanced troubleshooting. During this time, he established a sole proprietorship, providing troubleshooting and repair services for smaller AOL and Endurance turbines throughout the East Coast.

Ryan joined Pennecon/Bird in 2022, seeking to expand his skillset, focusing on construction. He excelled in leadership roles on diverse projects, managing top-outs, pre-assembly, electrical installation, receiving, and inventory control. In 2023, he led teams in major component exchanges at the Hermanville AW site, including main shaft, blade bearing, and pitch cylinder replacements. Ryan’s leadership and collaborative approach resulted in projects completed on schedule and to the highest standards.

Ryan co-founded HAF Renewables in 2024. He is a valuable team member with expertise in decommissioning, major component exchanges, troubleshooting, and new construction for a range of turbine manufacturers.

With over 3 years of direct experience in the wind industry, complemented by his Wind Turbine Technician diploma, Ryan is a dedicated professional with a strong safety-first culture and a commitment to accountability and quality. He is a skilled team leader who fosters positive and successful project outcomes. Ryan’s passion and drive for excellence enable him to exceed expectations and thrive in challenging situations consistently.

Harrison Salter

Co-Owner

Harrison’s journey in the wind industry began with his electro-mechanical training at NSCC from 2017 to 2019. Driven by a passion for wind energy, he completed a work internship with RMS Energy in 2018 and graduated in 2019.

He launched his career at One Wind (2019-2022), where he gained experience across various platforms, including GE and Vensys. His responsibilities ranged from daily service and troubleshooting to major component exchanges, progressing from technician to lead positions.

From 2022 to 2024, Harrison held leadership roles at Pennecon, contributing to diverse projects on multiple platforms. His work encompassed top-outs, pre-assembly, electrical installation, receiving, and inventory management. In 2023, he played a key role in major component exchanges at the Hermanville AW site, including main shaft, blade bearing, and pitch cylinder replacements. He managed all associated tasks, from crane operation to turbine restoration.

In 2024, Harrison became Co-Owner of HAF Renewables. He is a valuable team member with expertise in decommissioning, major component exchanges, troubleshooting, and new construction across various turbine manufacturers.

With over 5 years of direct experience in the wind industry, complemented by his electro-mechanical diploma, Harrison prioritizes safety, accountability, and quality in his work. His ability to unite teams and drive successful projects makes him an asset to the industry.

Tristan Dyson

Member

A 26 yr. old, Level 3 Industrial Mechanic Apprentice from Windsor, Nova Scotia.

Since beginning a career servicing GE 3MW class turbines in Tumbler Ridge B.C. for One Wind Services Tristan has crossed the country and back again performing related work implementing new or replacing existing components in all areas of Wind Turbines.

After accepting a site position at the South Canoe Wind Farm in Nova Scotia it wasn’t long before he was site lead for a sister park in the neighbouring province of P.E.I. While there constructed and completed all service tasks within the AW3000 platform.

Following four years, a switch to Pennecon Heavy Civil Construction saw a return to Alberta., this time beginning at the Grizzly Bear Ridge farm as Top-Out Lead and concluding with the trust of Walking-Down Enercon E-138’s in Burchill NB construction.

A project to rebuild Vestas, V- 90’s at the Kent Hills site in Moncton, NB found Tristan once again working in the Maritimes, this time as a Lead Hand Position dismantling and rebuilding the turbines. Gaining a strong background in the decommissioning side of wind turbines.

Having most recently completed extensive rebuilds and replacements for the Nordex Group at the Hermanville Windfarm, Tristan is in daily pursuit of the highest degree of customer satisfaction.
